Following Brian Brodie’s decision to leave HML, I have taken on the role of Interim Chief Executive -and it is my pleasure to do so. The first thing to say is that HML is running business as usual and we remain as committed as ever to our clients, with the full backing of Skipton Building Society.

I have held meetings with a number of clients over the past few weeks and I’ve been proud of the strength and depth of our relationships. For those of you who I have yet to meet, I have an IT and Operations background with nearly fifteen years of financial services experience, the last four of which have been with HML. I’ve most recently held the role of Chief IT & Operations officer at HML and have held other senior roles in the organisation prior to this position.

I believe strongly in operational excellence and making full use of the strength and depth of experience at my disposal to create long-lasting business partnerships with clients. Recently I found out that our 27-strong senior leadership team has an average of 20 years experience, which is unrivalled in the industry and great encouragement for me and everyone connected with HML.

In a previous role rebuilding National Australia Bank’s insurance business, I saw firsthand the importance of high quality IT infrastructure and operational design built around customer experience. I want this to become the central focus of our service to clients alongside faster responses to client needs and demands.

Operationally, HML is in a strong position. We have perhaps been preoccupied over the last couple of years with making improvements to our capability, often with an internal focus, but we’re now ready to engage with clients and prospective clients about positive changes in our service, geared to create a dynamic customer experience.

Subscribers to our e-newsletter can expect to hear more about this over the coming months as we share our development in greater detail. Just as a flavour of things to come, in the last month we have hit world class standards in our coding programme and been nominated for a global award by IBM for our pioneering work in Business Process Management, which is reported in more detail in this e-newsletter.

    Yours,

    Andrew
